Dress Code

Casual dress is acceptable, but modesty is encouraged.  We want to create a healthy, safe learning environment and will ask participants to change if clothing does not meet our standards.

  • Girls: No spaghetti-strapped tank tops, crop tops or shirts which show the mid-section. NO super short shorts.

  • Guys: Shirts at all times.  No tank tops, no sandals.

  • Everyone: Clothing should be appropriately fitted and not reveal undergarments. No hats/bandanas indoors.  Clothing featuring wording or images that are inappropriate (i.e. feature alcohol, violent images, drugs, hate speech or are disparaging in nature) for an academic setting should not be worn.

Personal Property

Each participant is responsible for his/her own personal property.  FELC staff is not responsible for missing, broken or non-functioning items belonging to students.  Please be sure to leave non-essential valuables at home, and do not bring cash in excess of $50.

Phones/Technology

Participants are permitted to carry cell phones, cameras, laptops, tablets, etc. during camp, but they are responsible for the safekeeping of those items. We ask that participants limit the use of those devices to camp-related activities during meeting times.

Housing (Dorm Room/ NOT hotel amenities room)

Participants are given room assignments according to the school’s availability and the student’s interests and age.  Requests for specific roommates are honored to the best of our ability. Must request a roommate MINIMUM a week before the camp starts. (Our host universities need finalized lists a week before the camp starts.) Dorms are typically hall or suite-style with twin-sized beds.  Do not plan on having access to a refrigerator for food storage.

Meals

Usually, all meals are offered through the school’s dining system (buffet style).  We are usually able to offer meal options for those with specialized diets (vegetarian, gluten free, etc.) as long as we receive advance notice.  Please call us to discuss as soon as you can.

Medical Care

Not all FELC program locations will offer an on-campus clinic or nurse, so please be sure to send your child with any medication he/she might need (ex: cold medicine).  Participants with minor injuries (cuts, scrapes, bruises and stings) will be treated by program staff and parents will be notified if requested on the medical form.  In the event a participant requires more medical care than program staff can safely administer, parents will be notified and additional emergency measures may be taken (which could include transportation to appropriate care facilities).  Participants must bring and administer their own medication.  We will offer Tylenol, antacids and hydrocortisone cream for self-administration if a parent so elects on the health history form.
